“Hands on Harvest to Distillation”

All day

Come learn about the science and art of distilling aromatic plants into flower and plant waters better known as hydrosols with hands on harvest of grosso lavender, and other herbs for steam and hydro distillation.IMG_2007

Students will learn to distill using copper alembic stills of different sizes from home garden size for personal use to semi-industrial. Working in small teams that rotate. Learn about the many wonderful uses for hydrosols, their care, and storage.

At the end of class we will divide up the hydrosols we made so that everyone can take some home to enjoy.

Taught by Sequim herbalist, artisan distiller, and herbal educator Victoria Reddick who has been distilling hydrosols and small batch essential oils for nearly 2 decades. Victoria started her herbal education at age 17 while living in the 4 corners region of the US southwest where she began learning sacred plant medicine from her indigenous herbalist auntie Eleanor of the Dine and years later with renown herbalists from around the world. She started her own Flower Essence company Green Lynx Flower Essences and Bear Creek Apothecary in 1999.

Victoria has made flower essences for 30 years and researched and developed botanical and herbal products for 18 years . She has taught classes and apprenticeships on her farm, at herb conferences, herb fairs, skillshare fairs, and Universities.  Victoria is currently the Pacific NW chapter coordinator of Herbalists Without Borders International.

We will be donating 10% of our class proceeds to Herbalists Without Borders International.

  1. Victoria,
I wanted you to know I was able to access your website from your herbal course description. I couldn’t find the active site last week, but today I did. Your description of the land, the bees, the inhabitants enchants me.
